Recipe for moist chocolate cake
Ingredients:
- Two cups flour(260g
- Two cups sugar(414gm)
- ¾ cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1tsp salt
- 1 cup of buttermilk (240ml)
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla
- 2tsp baking soda
- Two large eggs
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup buttermilk
Tips for making the chocolate frosting
- One ¼ cup shortening
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4-5 tbsp water/milk
- One ¼ cups butter
- 1 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder(114gm)
- 9 cups powdered sugar(1035gm)
Chocolate Ganache
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup | 169g)
- Sprinkles
Instructions:
- Make ready three eight-inch cake pans with parchment paper circles in the base and use oil to grease the sides. Preheat oven to 300°F (148°C).
- Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and beat together.
- Add eggs, vegetable oil, and buttermilk to all the dry ingredients and blend well.
- Pour vanilla to the boiling water and add to mixture. Now mix well.
- Pour the batter equally and uniformly in all three cakes pan and bake till 30-33 minutes till the toothpick comes out uniformly with little crumbs.
- Take out the cakes from the oven and let it settle down and cool for nearly ten minutes and finally remove the cooling racks to cool completely.
- Now focus on making frosting while letting the cakes to cool. Now whip together butter and shortening until even.
- Now add 4 cups of powdered sugar and blend until smooth.
- Pour vanilla and half of water and mix until smooth.
- Add five cups of crushed sugar and blend until smooth.
- Add cocoa and blend until smooth.
- Pour remaining water and milk till the frosting becomes in the right consistency.
- Once the cakes are cool, take out the cake domes using a large serrated knife.
- Place the first layer of cake on the plate — layer about one cup of frosting on top of the cake.
- Add another layer of cake and top it uniformly with another layer of frosting.
- Top another layer of cake on top and frost the outer layer of the cake.
- Now it’s time to make the chocolate ganache. Hence put the chocolate chips on a medium-sized bowl.
- Now heat some heavy whipping cream till it comes to boil and pour chocolate chips on it. Let it settle for about 2-3 minutes and make a nice mixture by whipping it.
- Now mizzle the chocolate ganache on the edges of the cake and gently pour the remainder on the top and spread evenly.
- Let the ganache to firm up and serve.
